On 250 Years

Happy Birthday America!

With all our warts we are still the greatest country in the world. Our short and simple constitution is still a model for civilized nations. Yes, there were a few important shortcomings which our forefathers left unresolved because of the need to proceed with haste. This most serious of these were corrected by later Presidents with the extension, and enforcement, of all and equal rights for all Americans.

And yet our work is not over. In recent years our focus seems to have shifted from “America and the People” to “Politics and the Party”. The unity that made us strong and vibrant has fallen away to political rivalry and infighting. In too many cases we have taken our eyes off our immediate needs and our greater goals and allowed personal interests and expediency to prevail. And we are paying the price for these lapses.

Yet, I have faith that we can and will regroup. God willing, with able and visionary leadership, our ship will be righted and we will have smooth sailing into an ever brighter future. This is the hope and the prayer of all freedom loving Americans who are no strangers to the sacrifices often necessary and the eventual rewards that await them.

God Bless America.
