This is an open letter from President Biden to Prime Minister Netanyahu.
“Dear Bibi,
We have long stood by Israel in its quest for peace and security, often even at the price of our own national interest. We continue to do so. We have always defended Israel’s right to protect itself and we have willingly provided substantial military and financial assistance to that end. We agree that Hamas deserves to be neutralized and abolished for its despicable acts on October 7th, – – – but the process of achieving this now has consequences that must be recognized. Too many innocent men, women and children are losing their lives in Israel’s retaliation and the enclave of Gaza is being rendered unlivable. That’s not what any of us should want. We have conveyed to you many times our disagreement with a military strategy which ignores the plight and the dire circumstances to which the innocent are subjected.
We have supplied much of the armament being used in Israel’s Gaza offensive. Much to our chagrin, that appears to make America complicit in this destruction and loss of life, which has exceeded all bounds of reasonableness. The way your military retaliation is conducted today is contrary to our preferred course of action, inconsistent with our own cherished values and is, expressly, not in America’s best interest. We cannot continue to be associated with such tactics, and, therefore, we will withhold any further military or financial assistance until a more targeted approach is in evidence, until you can facilitate the flow of urgently needed relief to the Gaza inhabitants, and until there is a genuine commitment to a long term solution to the Palestinian plight. While we decry and fully understand the pain Hamas has inflicted on innocent Israelis, the current Israeli military tactics in Gaza are not in anyone’s best long term interest – – – not Israel’s, not the Palestinian’s and not America’s”
– – – – – Just the view of a common man

I like it but do you think Israel will listen ? No way !

“Dear Bibi” implies a closer relationship than I think we should have with someone who ignores our wishes and our best interests. I know it would be unpopular with some interest groups here in the US but I think we need to withdraw support to anyone who ignores our best interests.

While Ollie’s letter to Bibi makes sense, neither side of the Israeli-Gaza
conflict will give it much thought in my opinion. Why? Because both
sides are now the perpetrators of “retributive” terrorism.
There is no appeasement for terrorists who are primarily interested not in
influencing, but in destroying their enemies. The target is hated not
because of what they do, but for the very fact that they exist. Nothing
less than their complete expungement will suffice. Isn’t that the
rhetoric we’ve heard from both Netanyahu and Hamas?
