On Kneeling

If I have a beef on kneeling, it is certainly not with the right to protest per se. My concern is simply with the venue of the protest. I understand that the intention is mainly to take advantage of the large captive audience and perhaps not to show disloyalty to the country. But on the other hand there is really only one time when we can all come together in unity and that is at the playing of the national anthem. All parties, the spectators, the fans, the opposing teams, people with diverse political persuasions all stand together as one, we stand together as Americans. For me this is a celebration of the uniqueness of this country and the loyalty we express to it and to each other. It’s just two minutes when we honor the many good and noble things about our country. Many see it as an expression of support for all those in uniform who protect our freedoms, our values and our lives. Yes, we are a diverse country and we have many problems but here we are blessed with the freedom and the opportunity to deal with these without fear, intimidation or persecution. This is what we should celebrate. I am bothered with anything that disrupts this solemn event.
